HCSO: 2 shot at Channelview home

HOUSTON – Two people were shot in the garage of a home in Channelview on Wednesday.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said a car drove up to a house in the 1600 block of Upshire near Becker about 10:45 a.m. Someone inside that car began shooting, investigators said.

One man died at the scene. Relatives identified him as 23-year-old Javier Sandoval.

A second person, a neighbor, was wounded and ran across the street for help, investigators said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. His condition has not been released.

Detectives said Sandoval's girlfriend's 14-year-old daughter was at the home at the time of the shooting but was not hurt.

"This young lady is not providing us a lot of information," Sgt. Felipe Rivera said. "She doesn't know a lot about what happened. What she's telling us is she was in the house, heard gunshots and that's it."

The motive for the shooting is under investigation.

"What was the reason? I know he didn't have nothing for them to just come and shoot him," said Sandoval's mother, Connie.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
