Frazier Elementary School left without power after transformer fire in playground

HOUSTON – Houston firefighters responded and put out a fire at Frazier Elementary School, in Pasadena Independent School District, on Tuesday.

A transformer caught fire in the playground, and all kids were temporarily evacuated from the school.

No injuries were reported, and no damage to the school was reported, but the power is not on at the school.

Parents are being allowed to pick up their kids.

Frazier elementary released the following statement:

"Because the safety and security of our students is the most important, we wanted to let you know about an electrical transformer that caught fire outside by the playground. All students were immediately evacuated and all students are safe and accounted for.

"The Houston Fire Department has extinguished the fire and given the district an all clear to reenter the building.

"Electrical power to the campus has not been restored. If you wish to pick up your child please use the Sage Meadow side of the building. If you have your car tag, you may remain in your vehicle and follow normal dismissal procedures.

"Open House and the afterschool CASE Program have been canceled for today. Open House will be rescheduled for a later date. Stay tuned for updates."
