HOUSTON – A Fort Bend County Sheriff's deputy was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence early Thursday morning.

Houston police said one of its officers pulled Soraiya Ali, 25, over in the 3600 block of Westheimer in the Galleria about 2:30 a.m. Thursday when someone reported seeing her driving a rental car erratically down the street.

The deputy refused to cooperate with police or take a breathalyzer test, sources said. A short time later, under the No Refusal policy, authorities said they were able to take a blood sample from Ali and place her under arrest.

Ali was sworn in as a deputy last month.

Records show the deputy has bonded out of jail.

Local 2 stopped by her home, where her father said he had no idea about the arrest. He said he had no idea about any of the charges against her and said he hasn't spoken to his daughter.
