Fog keeps cruise ship from leaving port

HOUSTON – The threat of fog has delayed a vacation at sea for passengers on the Caribbean Princess. They boarded the ship Saturday morning and were scheduled to leave Saturday afternoon, a departure that was delayed indefinitely due to fog.

On Thursday evening, the previous voyage returned to the Bayport Terminal a day early due to the fog that was anticipated over the weekend.

A norovirus outbreak on that cruise sickened 178 passengers and resulted in an extensive sanitation program prior to passengers boarding Saturday.

A spokesperson for the cruise line said Saturday night it was unknown when the ship would be able to sail. Entertainment and dining venues were open for passengers while the ship remained at the terminal.
