Father accused of hogtying 6-year-old son as punishment

ATASCOCITA, Texas – A Houston-area dad is accused of tying up his 6-year-old son as punishment.

Residents of a northeast Harris County neighborhood say they've never heard of abuse like this from a father to his son.

Jonathan Paul Cox is in jail on a $10,000 bond charged with one count of injury to a child after tying his son up the same way you'd tie up a calf at the rodeo.

Police say Cox was punishing his son for making a mess in the bathroom.

According to court documents, Cox hogtied his son's wrists and ankles together.

The boy told investigators his father then whipped him with a leather belt.

Outraged neighbors are talking about the kind of punishment the father should face.

Cox will be in court Wednesday.
