Family of four escapes house fire in southwest Houston

HOUSTON – A family is safe after escaping a fire that broke out in their southwest Houston home.

According to Houston firefighters, a couple and two children – an infant and a toddler – were in their home in the 900 block of Roos at Pella when they smelled smoke around 11 p.m.

The adults grabbed the children and rushed out, and by the time Houston firefighters arrived, flames were shooting through the roof. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes.

HFD said the fire started in the back corner of the attic and spread to a bedroom. It appears to be electrical in nature.
