Family, friends hold vigil, refuse to give up on search for lost friends

HOUSTON – The families of two Houston friends who went missing Easter weekend gathered Saturday evening for a candlelight vigil.

Krislyn Gibson, 35, and her friend Sidney Taylor, 35, have been missing since April 2, when they were both in Austin on a trip.

Earlier this week police found Taylor's abandoned vehicle in midtown Houston, but there has still been no sign of the two.

"These last few days have been some of the darkest days of my life," Joi Taylor, Sidney's wife, said.

"It has been eight days of a nightmare," Josh Gibson, Krislyn's father, said.

Saturday evening friends and family dressed in white, a shade of purity and hope, and gathered at Bear Creek Park in northwest Harris County to pray.

Earlier this week volunteer crews searched 40 acres of the park, the location of the last ping on Taylor's phone, but nothing turned up. They have since suspended the search.

"I feel sad because I feel like everyone thinks they might be dead or something, but they're not dead yet, we don't know if they're dead," Mary Ware, Taylor's mother, said.

Family members said it is unlike the two to stop all communication. They both have stable jobs and families.

Taylor is a father of four and Gibson is a single mother to an 8-year-old son. The two are longtime friends.

"He wants to know where his mommy is," Josh Gibson said. "He's telling me he has dreams about his momma."

If you have any information about the disappearance call Houston police. There is a $5,000 reward.
