Eldest Jones brother sought in deadly Haverstock Hill shooting

HOUSTON – Another suspect in the deadly Haverstock Hill Apartments shooting has been charged.

The suspect in the shooting that killed two people and wounded four is Harvey Jones and Jeremy Jones' brother, 35-year-old Kenneth Emmitt Jones.

Authorities said Kenneth Jones was charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Harris County Sheriff deputy Thomas Gilliland said Kenneth Jones is expected to turn himself in at some point over the weekend.

Police said on March 26 two people pulled up to the apartment complex in a vehicle, got out, one of them grabbed a gun semi-automatic machine gun or an assault rifle and the other one began shooting the gun.

The shooting, which police said stemmed from an earlier argument over a woman complaining about some of the men sitting on her stairs leading to her apartment, killed Gary Rushner, 31, and Christopher Beatty, 33. Two other men and two women were injured.

Jones’ brother, Jeremy, was originally also charged in connection with the shooting; however, investigators dropped those charges , calling it a case of mistaken identity.
