Driver arrested, charged after police chase

HOUSTON – A police chase through south Houston ended with an early morning arrest.

Around 1 a.m. Thursday, a Houston police officer saw a car with expired paper plates near McGowen and Live Oak, and attempted to pull it over.

Police said the driver did not stop and took off.

According to reports, the driver led police on a chase in and out of neighborhoods for about 10 minutes, before he lost control of the car near Highway 288 and the South Loop. The car spun out into the grassy median, getting a flat tire in the process.

Police said the driver jumped out and tried to run away, but officers caught up to him on the feeder road. He was arrested and charged with felony evading.

The suspect's name was not immediately released.
