Donate to "Hydrate the Heroes"

HOUSTON – As Houston heats up, one judge has thought of a way to show support for local firefighters. Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts and his staff are asking the public to join them in their appreciation drive called "Hydrate the Heroes" by donating bottled water and Gatorade.

Judge Metts notes, "the intense summer heat in this part of the country adds both danger and extreme discomfort anytime our firefighters have to gear up...Hydration is extremely important and this is an easy and inexpensive way we can all send the message to our fire departments that what they do every day is very much appreciated."

He thinks that the drive is an inclusive gesture since most residents can afford at least one case of water. Funds in any amount will also be accepted to go towards the purchase of water or Gatorade.

Donations may be dropped off between now and July 3, at Judge Metts' office located at 22354 Justice Drive in New Caney. The office is open until 5:30 p.m. daily.

The items collected will be donated to Splendora, Caney Creek, New Caney, and Porter Fire Departments on July 3.
