Detectives: Diesel fuel theft ring hits 3 counties

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – There has been a rash of local diesel fuel thefts recently, and investigators believe a group of thieves is behind them.

Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers said detectives in Fort Bend, Brazoria and Harris counties are working to find what appears to be a ring of thieves targeting companies that maintain diesel storage tanks for their vehicles.

In the Fort Bend County case, which occurred on April 12, investigators said suspects driving two trucks broke into the Cherry Crushed Concrete plant in the 6400 block of Koeblen Road in the Rosenberg area. According to investigators, almost 1,100 gallons of diesel were stolen. A pressure washer, a lawnmower and a large pipe wrench were also taken.

Detectives said the suspects were in two Dodge dually trucks, one of which was pulling a gooseneck trailer with fuel containers on top. According to investigators, one truck is maroon; the truck pulling the trailer was white.

Detectives said the group has hit similar sites in Brazoria and Harris counties.
