Deputy does more than just patrol Crosby schools

CROSBY, Texas – Harris County Deputy Kristen Roulet is quite a few years older than the kids at Crosby Elementary School, but when she hits the playground she sure is just as fun.

The Precinct 3 deputy patrols all of the Crosby Independent School District campuses, and she loves interacting with the kids.

“I became an officer just because I wanted to make a difference and truly try to change the world just one thing at a time,” Roulet said.

At the start of the school year she began asking principals and counselors which students come from a rough home life and who struggles academically.

One of those students, 7-year-old Daniel Brown, didn’t know how to read or write at the start of the school year.

About two months in, Daniel is doing much better. So, Roulet decided to surprise him. Earlier this week, she called him into the school office and presented him with a brand new bike.

The best part about it is Daniel isn’t the only student she has helped this year. From $200 gift cards to buy clothes and toys, to buying some of the kids’ lunches, Roulet has helped about a dozen kids and she doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon.

“I mean, the sky’s the limit right now,” Roulet said. “There’s no telling what I will do.”

Roulet said she works extra shifts during the week, just so she can make a student’s day by giving them a gift, whether big or small.
