Deputies: Mom surprises home invaders with gun

MAGNOLIA, Texas – A mother turned the tables on a trio of would-be home invaders Friday night, deputies said.

"It was my neighbor. She and her son were home and that men were in her home or were in her home and to get there as fast as I can," said Mitch Sanders.

He said his neighbors, a 33-year-old mother with a 6-year-old son, were home at 8:30 p.m. when three men broke into her home in the 18700 block of Mink Lake Drive in Magnolia.

Montgomery County sheriff's deputies said the mother grabbed her pistol and shot at the men, possibly hitting one of them before they men ran off.

Sanders said he didn't see the men when he got to his neighbor's house, but saw a truck parked.

"She kind of met in the hallway. I literally wrapped my arms around both of them and got them back here as fast as possible," said Sanders.

Deputies said the mother and her son were not injured. Sanders said that's to the mom's credit for fighting back.

"The story here is the mother, how she handled herself and how she protected her son. She's pretty somber, but also very thankful something bad didn't happen to her and her son," said Sanders.

Anyone with information about the would-be home invaders is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-397-STOP (7867).
