Deputies: Man meets boy for sex

Harold Newton Smith III charged with sex assault, online solicitation of minor

SPRING, Texas – A Spring man has been accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy he met online.

Montgomery County sheriff's deputies said Harold Newton Smith III, 29, met the boy on a social networking site.

The two met in person and Smith sexually assaulted the boy, investigators said.

Detectives said the boy's mother found suggestive text messages on her son's phone and notified them. Investigators said they then posed as the boy and arranged to meet.

Smith was arrested when he arrived at the prearranged meeting place, investigators said.

Smith has been charged with online solicitation of a minor and aggravated sexual assault of a child.
