Deputies: Cook shot to death inside restaurant

Julio Panquim found dead

HOUSTON – Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff's Office are looking for the person who shot and killed a man inside a seafood shack at the corner of Bellaire and Howell Sugar Land Road in Southwest Harris County on Saturday.

Investigators told Local 2 several people were on the restaurant's property. They were standing in front, heard a single shot, ran around back and found the cook, Julio Panquim, dead inside the kitchen. There are no witnesses or suspects.

Deputies took a few people in for questioning.

"I was here just thirty minutes before it happened," said Trae Rodriguez, who drives a truck delivering crawfish.

Rodriguez knew Panquim and said he didn't deserve to die.

"I was just here before it happened," said Rodriguez. "I don't understand why anybody would want to do that to him. He's not the type, he don't look like no troublemaker. He's a real peaceful guy."
