DEER PARK – Organizers said they have reached their fundraising goal to save Deer Park Prairie.
The Bayou Land Conservancy announced Tuesday that it had raised enough funds to save the 53-acre undeveloped piece of land thanks to more than 1,000 donors.

Conservationists see the land, that' home to extremely rare plants and wildlife, as a hidden treasure.
The deadline to raise $4 million was Tuesday.
The landowner had planned to turn the area into a subdivision if the fundraising goal was not met.
