Cypress Ridge High School teacher accused of sexually assaulting student

HOUSTON – A Cypress Ridge High School math teacher was charged with sexual assault of a child after accusations of an inappropriate relationship with a student.

An anonymous parent contacted an assistant principal at Cypress Ridge and provided the name of the student and Alfredo Campos, also saying it was believed Campos had sex with the student. The parent said the information came from their child, who is also a student at the school.

Harris County said Campos, 30, admitted to having sex with the student "probably twice" in his car while parked at Bear Creek Park.

The student told officers that she communicated with Campos through social media and that at one point he sent her a photo of himself wearing boxers. She also said Campos asked if she could get away for a weekend to spend with him in fall of 2015.

The student said her cellphone began to act up, so she took some screenshots of the messages and sent them to a friend to preserve them. At this time, she also told investigators that Campos kissed her, touched her breast and hit her on the buttocks, but nothing more.

When investigators interviewed Campos, he initially denied touching any of his students inappropriately, but when investigators showed him screenshots of the conversations with the student, he admitted his relationship with the student.

Once the student was told about Campos' confession, she told investigators they had sex multiple times while parked in the parking lot at Bear Creek Park.

“Violations of student trust will not be tolerated,” school officials said in a statement. “We fully support the swift prosecution of anyone caught compromising student safety.”

Campos was charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child from age 14 to 17.
