Cross country runner hit by car in Pearland

Police said the team was out for their morning training run

PEARLAND – A high school cross country runner was hit by a car in Pearland Thursday morning.

Pearland police said it happened around 6:20 a.m. in the 4100 block of Magnolia when four team members were on their morning training run. This was not a run sanctioned by the school.

Police said two girls were attempting to cross Magnolia near the Pearland Farms subdivision when one of the runners was hit by a car.

Investigators said information indicates the girls unexpectedly crossed the road in front of oncoming traffic.

The girl was airlifted by LifeFlight with serious injuries to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Authorities have not released any other information.
