Denny's customers, employees robbed at gunpoint by masked men

Third robbery at a Denny's in the Houston area since January

SPRING, Texas – Authorities are looking for the two masked men who robbed a Denny's restaurant in Spring.

It happened at the Denny's on the North Freeway and Cypresswood early Tuesday morning. According to deputies, the masked men had guns and were after cash and other items like cell phones.

Kevin Bass was inside the Denny's when the restaurant was robbed.

"I just heard, 'Everybody get down, don't anybody do anything stupid,'" Bass said.

According to Bass one of the men held a gun to his head and told him to empty out his pockets.

The crooks got away, and no injuries were reported.

At least six customers were robbed.

Bass said the most disturbing part is that there was a young child inside at the time but he said the mother hid her child from the thieves.

At least three robberies have been reported at Houston-area Denny's since January.

The latest one happened on April 17 at a Denny's on Highway 290 near Pinemont. During that incident, masked men stole cash from the register and an employee was pistol-whipped after the safe would not open.

Then, back on March 26, the Denny's on FM 1960 was targeted. Officials say masked men took cash from the register, and pistol-whipped and kicked an employee in the face.

"Detectives will be looking at the video, connecting it, trying to determine if these could be the same suspects that hit other business establishments in this area," said Mark Herman of precinct 4.

Investigators believe there was also someone waiting in the parking lot in a getaway car in Tuesday's robbery.
