Local Starbucks to start serving up booze

HOUSTON – Something new is brewing, or perhaps chilling, at a local Starbucks! The University Boulevard location in the Rice Village shopping center will be serving up booze.

The coffee chain will serve "Starbucks Evenings" to Houstonians. Nearly a dozen stores across Houston have already upgraded their menus. But don't rush out just yet; the coffee giant is still awaiting permits. It's likely that you won't see cold taps on the coffee bar until April.

Alcohol service will begin after 4 p.m. The chain first tried it in Seattle five years ago.

Several beverages are on the menu, including beer, several types of red and white wines and a variety of plates, like truffle mac and cheese or bacon-wrapped dates.
