Cardinal DiNardo elected VP of U.S. Conference of Bishops

BALTIMORE, Maryland – Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston has been named to a top leadership position in the Catholic Church.

The nation's Roman Catholic bishops elected Cardinal DiNardo vice president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

The vote was held Tuesday in Baltimore, Maryland.

Louisville Archbishop Joseph Kurtz was overwhelmingly elected president.

As president and vice president, Kurtz and DiNardo will be the leaders of over 400 catholic bishops in the largest religious body in the country with some 67 million members.
