Burglars target rental center

BAYTOWN, Texas – A Baytown rental center shop has some cleaning up to do after someone broke in and stole a 55-inch 3D TV.

Baytown police said the space next to the business is vacant, and that's where thieves broke in first.

The burglars got in through a back door and used a sledgehammer to bust through the drywall. The thief initially stole two flat screen TVs, but only managed to get away with one, investigators said.

Police said they are looking at surveillance video to try to identify the thieves.

"We have technology where we can zoom in and use contrast and different techniques to bring out a clearer picture so that it can be shared not only with our officers but the viewing audience," Lt. Eric Freed said.

Investigators said there was also a car burglary nearby, but they don't believe the crimes are connected.

Anyone with information is asked to call Baytown Crime Stoppers at 713-427-TIPS.
