Body of missing boy found near Trinity River

COLDSPRING, Texas – Searchers have found the body of a 6-year-old boy who disappeared in San Jacinto County on Friday.

Officials resumed the search Saturday morning at 7 a.m.  The child's body was found shortly before noon.

San Jacinto County sheriff's deputies said the search was centered near Browder's Marina, about a half-mile north of F.M. 3278, outside of Coldspring, Texas.

The boy, James Vongxay, was last seen about 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.

"The family was fishing down here on the spillway and they lost contact with him," Capt. Carl Jones said.

Several agencies searched for Vongxay in the Trinity River near Lake Livingston and in a wooded area.

Family members at the scene of the search were notified about the discovery of the child's body.
