Body believed to be missing woman found in Oyster Creek in Angleton

BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas – The body of a missing woman whose car was found crashed near Oyster Creek in Brazoria County has been recovered, according to search crews.

Officials say the woman, identified by her mother as Jennifer McPartland, crashed her car into the creek Wednesday morning near FM 521 and County Road 44 in Angleton.

McPartland, 28, was last seen at around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday when she left her house to go to a friend's house. McPartland, a wife and mother of two young children, hasn't been seen since.

"I just want my baby back," her mother, Sherry Berel, told Local 2.

McPartland's vehicle was found crashed on the banks of Oyster Creek.

DPS troopers, Brazoria County Sheriff's Office deputies and Texas EquuSearch volunteers used boats and dogs in their search for the woman, combing the banks of the creek and searching the water.

Then, just before 4 p.m. Wednesday, members of EquuSearch confirmed they had found McPartland's body at the bottom of Oyster Creek, about 100 feet from where her car crashed into the creek early Wednesday morning.

An autopsy will be performed to officially confirm the identity and to determine the cause of death.

Investigators are trying to figure out exactly what happened to McPartland.
