1 dead, 1 injured in crash involving Aldine ISD bus in northeast Houston

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Life Flight was called to a crash involving a school bus in northeast Harris County.

The crash happened on FM 1960 and Lee Road just after 6 a.m. Thursday. The Aldine Independent School District bus was not carrying students at the time of the crash.

Investigators said a truck and van collided in the westbound lane of FM 1960 causing the truck to cross into oncoming traffic where it hit the school bus. 

At least two people were injured. The driver of the truck was flown to the hospital and died.

The driver of the van was taken to the hospital by ambulance and is expected to be OK.

The bus driver was not injured.

The bus was headed to Nimitz High School before the crash. 

The road was closed in both directions in the area as officers investigated and crews worked to clean up the wreck.
