HOUSTON – The ninth annual HISD Marching Band Festival took place Tuesday night at Delmar Stadium.
Twelve HISD high school marching bands were slated to take part in the festivities, including Cesar Chavez High School.
Though the band only has about 50 members, senior drum major Josue Andrade said all of them are dedicated to the ensemble.
"Band is my life. I know that sounds corny, but it's true," Andrade said.
Though the marching band at Cesar Chavez HS is not a competition band, the festival gives them the chance to be judged like one.
Five University Interscholastic League level marching band judges were on hand to provide feedback to each band participating.
The students also had the opportunity to see their fellow HISD bands in action, something they rarely have the chance to experience.
