4 slain dolphins found along Gulf coast

GALVESTON, Texas – Authorities are looking for a dolphin attacker along the Gulf of Mexico.

Four dolphins have been found stabbed, shot or mutilated on the Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama coasts recently. One of the dolphins even had its tail torn off.

It's especially disturbing for Heidi Whitehead, the executive director of Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network.

"It's difficult to look at," said Whitehead.

So far, there have been no reports of any dolphin mutilation along the Texas coast, but Whitehead and her organization are on heightened alert.

If you see any injured dolphins, please call 1-800-9-MAMMAL.
