3rd suspect in connection to 10-month-old's death in jail on unrelated charge

HOUSTON – A third suspect in the fatal shooting of a 10-month-old boy is in jail on an unrelated charge, authorities said Wednesday.

Because the man has not been charged, his identity is not being released.

Kravon Human, 20, was arrested and charged with capital murder Tuesday.

Jared Balogun, 24, was the first man charged with capital murder in the June 14 death of Messiah Marshall. Police said Balogun confessed to the crime while being interviewed by detectives in connection with charges unrelated to this case.

He was arrested June 19.

Investigators said a 22-year-old man was taking out his trash and helping his son, Messiah, learn to walk at Nob Hill East Apartments when three men approached him. One of them began firing, killing the child.

Police said that while the motive of the shooting is still under investigation, it is possible that it was in retaliation for a previous altercation.
