Robbers strike with customers and employees inside

HOUSTON – Three men robbed a meat market in southeast Houston while customers and employees were inside the store, according to police.

The robbery happened Monday morning. According to the store manager, the three suspects were waiting for him when he showed up to open La Michoacana Meat Market in the 9300 block of Howard.

According to the manager, the suspects followed him inside, pointed guns and demanded he open the safe.

"I couldn't open the safe. I was trying and couldn't open it and the guy got mad. And then, that's when he hit me," said Gerardo Albor.

According to Albor, other employees and customers also in the store were forced into the cooler.

One shot was fired into the wall during the robbery, which according to Albor, caused the security camera to stop working.
