3 storm chasers killed in 2-vehicle crash near Lubbock, Texas DPS says

TEXAS – Three storm chasers were killed Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash near Lubbock, Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed.

The incident was reported at 3:30 p.m. on FM 2794 and FM 1081.

Officials said a black Suburban was northbound on FM 1081, ran a stop sign and collided with a black Jeep that was traveling westbound on FM 2794.

The driver of the Suburban, 57-year-old Kelley Gene Williamson, of Cassville, Mo., was ejected from the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to reports. Authorities said he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time.

The passenger in the Suburban, 55-year-old Randall Delane Yarnell, also of Cassville, was wearing a seatbelt at the time, authorities said.

The driver of the Jeep, 25-year-old Corbin Lee Jaeger, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, authorities said.

The crash remains under investigation.
