2 charged after nearly 750 grams of Xanax found during traffic stop, deputies say

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – Two 24-year-old men have been charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance after over 748 grams of Xanax pills were found stashed in their vehicle after a traffic stop in New Caney on Tuesday.

Mekal Williams, of Arlington, and Devante Thomas, of Alexandria, Louisiana, told deputies there was nothing illegal in the vehicle after being pulled over on Highway 59.

Deputies said they detected the odor of marijuana and a K-9 alerted to drugs.

While searching the vehicle, deputies could see clear plastic bags full of pills in the front grill area of the vehicle, authorities said.

Deputies removed the bags and discovered over 748 grams of Xanax pills, according to deputies.
