16-year-old falls 30 feet during police chase

Teen spotted walking along Hardy Toll Road.

Houston – A 16-year-old is recovering in the hospital after falling 30 feet during police chase.

It happened Saturday  around 2 a.m. on the Hardy Toll Road near Bennington Street.

Deputies say they spotted the teen walking along the toll road and say they attempted to stop him just to talk.

Instead the teen took off running and jumped over the retaining wall, falling 30 feet. 

Deputies searched for the teen in the area below, but were unable to find him.

They called the Houston Police Department  K-9 unit to come out and assist.

Eventually the K-9 dog found the boy hiding in a heavily wooded area not far from where he jumped.  

Deputies say he actually crawled from where he originally jumped into the wooded area to hide.

The boy suffered a broken ankle, knee injury, and a bite from the K-9 dog.

He was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.
