15-year-old driver crashes into SUV, telephone pole in Bacliff, authorities say

BACLIFF, Texas – A 15-year-old driver crashed a Jeep into an SUV and a telephone pole in Bacliff Sunday, authorities say.

The crash happened on 8th Street at Avenue B.

The Galveston County Sheriff said a teen believed to be 15 years old was driving the Jeep that struck a white SUV.

The teen driving the Jeep and driver of SUV were taken by ambulance to an area hospital. Sheriff Henry Trochesset said it did not appear the injuries were life-threatening.

Because the accident involved a possible unlicensed minor driving, the sheriff's office puts out its full crime scene investigation unit for full accident mapping, the sheriff said.

The driver of the SUV was taken to UTMB in Galveston with a broken clavicle. We are working to confirm the conditions and severity of injuries of others involved.
