Freebie Friday: Lots of fun and free events in Houston

If your weekend is not already chock-full of fun, it can be. There is a lot going on around Houston over the next few days. Consumer expert Amy Davis has curated the best events that are absolutely free.

The 16th annual Tomball German Heritage Festival is absolutely free; and it's open all weekend beginning Friday at 6 p.m. You don't have to be German to enjoy the music, kraut and polka. There will also be street performers, live music, a petting zoo and 175 vendors.

Take the kids to Castillo Park on Quitman Street Saturday for the Sabor Del Northside Festival From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. they'll bring out the bubbles for Bubble-fest!

If you're craving crawfish, head west to Jordan Ranch in Brookshire. From noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, you can eat mud bugs, drink beer, get the kids faces painted and throw them in a bounce house.

Everything's grand in Galveston; and that includes the 22nd Annual Grand Kids Festival 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The fun includes a bubble pond, a petting zoo and live entertainment.

Support local artists at the Heartmade Art Market  Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Houston.

Get your pooch out for a Doggy Party on the Plaza at City Centre Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Don't forget your dog's costume. There will be a costume contest and a parade.

Do you want to learn more about your legal rights? The next session of the People’s Law School is this Saturday, at the University of Houston Law Center. The free program runs from 9 a.m. until noon on the main campus of the University. There will be classes in fourteen different areas of law, including business law, health insurance, consumer law, credit and debt collection, wills and estates, family law, landlord tenant law, small claims court, tax law, social security and how to deal with an attorney. Although there is no charge for the “People’s Law School,” you must pre-register to attend.
