Hurricane Erin: Heavy rainfall is expected across parts of Hispaniola, Turks and Caicos, and the Bahamas, particularly east of San Salvador Island on Tuesday.

Life-threatening rip currents are a major concern along the beaches of the Bahamas, the U.S. East Coast and Bermuda throughout the rest of the week. There were 50 rip current rescues Monday in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina outside of Wilmington.

Tropical storm conditions and coastal flooding are possible in the North Carolina Outer Banks by late Wednesday.

The tropical storm train continues in the Atlantic:

A tropical wave in the eastern tropical Atlantic has a 60% chance of development into a tropical system within the next 7 days. This storm is tracking farther south than Erin. If it can remain disorganized for several more days it has a chance to move into the Caribbean and possibly the Gulf.

If it strengthens quickly it will follow the path of Erin and remain over the ocean. We’ll keep you posted. You also see a new tropical wave coming off the African continent that is now at a 30% chance of development.
