More thunderstorms, heavy downpours expected across Houston into the afternoon commute

Thunderstorms and rain are expected to continue into Wednesday afternoon and could stick around through Thursday.

Some storms could be on the strong side, especially if we start to see some storms colliding with each other. This could lead to some minor street flooding if storms slow down, similar to what we saw across the metro on Tuesday.

Tracking the tropics:

The Atlantic will stay busy with some activity but nothing organized at this time and the National Hurricane Center isn’t expecting anything to develop over the next 7 days.

Remember, the Atlantic hurricane season lasts through November. Here in SE Texas, we see the tropical season peak in September, but we can see a storm anytime from now through the fall. Last year, Hurricane Beryl made landfall early in the morning on July 8th.
