Summer keeps sizzling on:
HOUSTON – So far, we’re on a three-day record-breaking streak. Tuesday’s two-day record-breaking high temperature was 95; Wednesday climbed to 96, and on Thursday, Houston hit 95. Friday the streak may come to an end as cruise below the mid 90s due to hazy skies.
High pressure continues to dominate the Gulf, which will ensure that we’ll stay above average through the weekend. Records will be a little harder to reach.
Take care of yourself in this heat:
Remember to take breaks to avoid heat exhaustion if you plan to be outside. It usually takes our bodies a few weeks to acclimate to the typical summer Houston heat.
High pressure will continue to move east into the Gulf, keeping temperatures above average and still blocking rain chances
A southerly flow will pull in moisture, increasing dew points and making it feel like 98-102 degrees through the weekend. Remember to take breaks to avoid heat exhaustion if you plan to be outside.
10-day forecast:
The above-average heat stretches into next week with no real chance of rain. Temperatures will challenge records and have Texans wishing it felt like May instead of July and August. However, there is starting to looking like we’ll see a slightly stronger cool front that will bring a little relief mid-week next week.
