Dense fog advisory for Houston area expires

HOUSTON – Thick fog Wednesday made for a dicey morning commute for drivers across inland locations of the Houston area.

The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory until 10 a.m. for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Colorado, Grimes, Harris, Jackson, Matagorda, Madison, Montgomery, Liberty, Walker, Waller, Washington and Wharton counties. That advisory has expired.

Drivers were urged to slow down, use their low beams and increase their following distance until the fog lifts.

Meteorologist Britta Merwin said temperatures will climb to about 90 degrees by Wednesday afternoon with a 20 percent chance of rain.

Rain chances increase by Friday through the weekend.
