Storms wind down after sunset

HOUSTON – We're finally seeing today’s round of afternoon downpours starting to wind down across the region.

They'll be nearly stationary, but heavy downpours underneath with lightning and some strong winds.

That's be some good relief from the oppressive heat as many areas are running near 100 degrees in the "feels like" temps department.

Showers will wind down after sunset tonight and we'll be left with a warm and muggy night in the upper 70s.

Sunday may see even more storms as an upper level disturbance will swing through but even then, not everyone will see rain. Coverage will be around 40 to 50 percent with more heavy downpours. If you don't see rain, it's another afternoon in the mid-90s.
