HOUSTON – Sleet was reported west of Houston Tuesday morning. Residents in Brookshire and Sugar Land reported sleet just before 9 a.m. Sleet was also reported in Grimes County, Pearland and northwest Harris County near Tomball.
Although ground temperatures are above freezing temperatures aloft are super cold allowing for snow to melt on its way to the surface allowing for sleet this morning. No accumulations are anticipated and with ground temperatures being in the mid-30s icy roads are not a concern.
The batch of precipitation associated with the sleet is now moving into warmer air through southern Fort Bend County. As the line of showers continues to push southeast the window to observe sleet will continue to close. A resident in Brookshire has pinned a photo on Stormpins. If you are one of the few that captured the sleet please share it on Stormpins.
Expect drying conditions through the morning. This afternoon will feature a lot of cloudy skies and chilly temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s.
