Potent cold front pushes through, leaving big chill for Halloween weekend

HOUSTON – Cold Canadian air is making its way toward Texas from the north.  It will filter through the Houston area Friday, bringing us the coolest weekend of the fall season so far!

Ahead of the front, expect sunny skies and mild temperatures for Thursday.  Highs will be near 80 degrees.  Thursday evening temperatures will drop into the 60s by 8pm with overnight lows bottoming out near 55 degrees early Friday morning.  A light jacket or sweater will come in handy Thursday night!

Our Halloween cold front will reach Houston by mid-morning Friday.  A north breeze will pick up to between 10 and 20 mph and temperatures will struggle into the mid 70s by afternoon.  Skies will stay sunny.

Halloween evening will be chilly!  As the sun sets, the north breeze will slacken and temperatures will plummet into the 50s between 8 and 9 o'clock.  The evening will be clear, crisp, and cool for trick-or-treaters and other holiday revelers.  Have a mid-weight jacket with you if you're planning to be out late Halloween night!

With the cold pool of air directly overhead this weekend, get ready for clear, cold mornings.  Temperatures will be well into the 40s both Saturday and Sunday morning.  Afternoons will be cool, also.  Saturday high temperatures will be in the mid to upper 60s, while Sunday's high will be in the low 70s.  The weekend will be rain-free start to finish.

Get your fall wardrobes ready.  Fall is back with a punch!
