"The Quadrantids happen every January, but this year, we'll be able to see it," said Carolyn Sumners, vice president of astronomy at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. "North America is in the right place at the right time."

At 1:30 a.m. in the east northeast sky, stargazers will get quite a treat to see the Quadrantid meteor shower.

"If you live in The Woodlands and you have a good, clear eastern sky, you could see 60 meteors an hour," said Sumners.

Sumners said if folks want to see the meteor shower, they will need to move away from the bright lights of the city and go to a dark spot away from tall trees to see it.

These meteors will look like bright blue shooting stars.

Experts said this first meteor shower of the year may end up being one of the best of 2012.
