Literacy Now Expands Reach to Empower Students Through 6th Annual Houston Reads Day

Literacy Now will host its sixth annual and largest Houston Reads Day on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026. More than 450 volunteers will come together to read to over 17,000 Pre-K through 5th-grade students in more than 700 classrooms at 45 schools across Houston. This citywide, single-day event brings Houstonians together to read to students, support Literacy Now's essential Reading Intervention program, and shine a light on the literacy crisis facing Houston.
