Straw purchases are another word for buying a firearm illegally, often for someone who is prohibited from owning one. Representatives from various agencies including the ATF, the U.S. Attorney's Office and the Dept. of Justice broke down the importance behind the billboards that talked about the stiff penalties from buying a gun illegally for someone else.
