Robert Francis Prevost, a Chicago-born prefect of the Vatican’s dicastery for bishops, has been elected as the new Pope. At 69, Prevost brings extensive experience from his missionary work and leadership as archbishop in Peru. Known for his global perspective, he was appointed by Pope Francis to oversee the diocese of Chiclayo in 2014 and later brought to Rome in 2023 for his current role.
