The Latest: Vance visits Greenland as Trump presses for a US takeover of the island

U.S. Vice President JD Vance said on Friday that Denmark has “underinvested” in Greenland’s security and demanded that the country change its approach as President Donald Trump continues to talk of taking over the Danish territory. During his visit to Pituffik Space Base in Greenland, Vance said the U.S. has “no option” but to take a significant position to ensure the security of Greenland. Greenlanders are increasingly worried that their homeland, a self-governing region of Denmark, has become a pawn in the competition between the U.S., Russia and China.
