Large Pileup on I-55 Smolders During Dust Storm in South-Central Illinois

Illinois State Police said all southbound and northbound lanes on Interstate 55 were closed in northern Montgomery County on Monday, May 1, due to a large crash. The crash was reported to have involved multiple vehicles and occurred near Farmersville, outside of Springfield. The National Weather Service said a combination of newly plowed fields and gusty northwest winds created a dust storm in the area at the time of the crash.
