Ishida Dance Company presents ‘Waiting/Rex’ at Asia Society Texas

Houston audiences have the opportunity to experience a powerful new work of contemporary dance as ISHIDA Dance Company presents the world premiere of ‘waiting / REX’ this weekend at Asia Society Texas. The ambitious double bill reimagines two literary classics—Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot and Sophocles' Oedipus Tyrannus—through movement, transforming familiar stories into emotionally charged and visually striking performances. ISHIDA Dance Company brings together exceptional dancers from across Texas and around the world, including artists affiliated with renowned organizations such as Houston Ballet, Ballet BC, Nederlands Dans Theater, English National Ballet, Staatsoper Wien, and others. The production offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience a world premiere work that blends literature, movement, and emotion into a compelling contemporary dance event. Performance Schedule: Thursday, June 11 – Saturday, June 13, 2026, performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2026, performance begins at 3 p.m. Watch as Mel Camp brings us a preview of this weekend’s big performances.
