HOUSTON LIFE

The Houston Food event connecting global flavors and local farms

The Cardamom Challenge is more than a culinary competition—it’s an opportunity to support a stronger, healthier Houston. Hosted as part of the Spice Routes festival at the Ismaili Center Houston, the event brings together chefs, culture, and community while raising funds for Urban Harvest, a nonprofit dedicated to increasing access to healthy food throughout Greater Houston. Houston Life spoke with Urban Harvest Executive Director Janna Roberson about the impact these partnerships can have and why bringing people together around food can create meaningful change far beyond the dinner table. Set within the stunning Ismaili Center Houston—a new architectural landmark designed to foster connection, dialogue, and community—the Cardamom Challenge celebrates the power of food to unite people while supporting an important cause.
