HOUSTON LIFE

How your Houston Zoo visit helps save lions in Kenya 🦁🌍

Whenever you visit the Houston Zoo ❤️🐧 whether it’s buying tickets, becoming a Zoo member, or picking up a gift from the store, you’re helping the Houston Zoo support wildlife conservation programs around the world. One powerful example is the Zoo’s long-standing partnership with Ewaso Lions in Kenya. During our Houston Life Zoo Takeover, Melanie Camp met with Taylor Rhoades, the Houston Zoo’s Director of Wildlife Conservation, outside the lion habitat for a special preview of the upcoming KPRC 2 primetime program “Saving Lions: The Pride of Kenya.” Taylor recently traveled to Kenya with KPRC 2’s Keith Garvin, where she saw firsthand how conservation teams are protecting lions, from the Warrior Watch program, which reduces conflict between lions and nearby communities, to the inspiring Mama Simba women who restore the land, remove invasive species, and strengthen the ecosystem for wildlife. 🦁🌍 Don’t miss “Saving Lions: The Pride of Kenya” airing December 12 on KPRC 2. It’s a powerful look at how people in Kenya and the Houston Zoo are working together to save lions in the wild. For more conservation stories, visit HoustonLife.tv
